Dr. Shannon Emmons, Owner
Resident, American College of Veterinary Behaviorists

While growing up in South Berwick, Dr. Emmons knew at a young age that she wanted to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. As a Marshwood student she worked as a veterinary assistant for Dr. Lee at South Berwick Veterinary Hospital.

​Following graduation from high school she went on to attend the University of Vermont and received her Bachelor's in Animal Science. Dr. Emmons then continued her academic pursuits at Atlantic Veterinary College graduating in May of 2017 with a Doctorate of Veterinary medicine. Dr. Emmons bought the practice from Dr. Lee in June of 2019 and has been very excited to be working with the community as a small business owner.

As of February 2023, Dr. Emmons is working with Dr. Christine Calder DACVB of Calder Veterinary Behavior Services to pursue a residency in veterinary behavior.

She currently lives in Lebanon with her husband, dogs, cats, goats, horses, and ducks. While not at work she enjoys hiking, horseback riding, skiing, gardening, knitting, and reading. 

Dr. Kathy Bouras

Dr. Kathy Bouras grew up in Northern Virginia, where she loved riding and showing horses as well as caring for various animals. She graduated from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999 and has been practicing in the Seacoast since.

When not working, she enjoys hiking, spending time at the beach, and traveling. She is a long time resident of South Berwick with her partner Jonathan and her son, and shares her home with two rescue dogs, Liam and Birdie.

Dr. Lucy Devlin

Dr. Lucy Devlin grew up in Massachusetts before attending Colby College where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Biology. She then attended Tufts University where she earned a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2022.

She enjoys spending her free time with her very sweet dog and her absolutely purr-fect cats! She also loves reading, traveling, and spending time at the beach. 

Ellie Miles, Practice Manager

Ellie is a native Mainer having grown up in nearby Kennebunk. She attended Babson College where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. After working in Operations for Amazon, Ellie sought out a career that would combine her business education and passion - animals!

She entered the industry as the Manager of Equine/Farm Animal Programs for the Massachusetts SPCA before finding her way to veterinary medicine in 2020. In her Practice Manager role, Ellie enjoys empowering her team and getting to know clients in order to reach the best outcomes for patients.

When not in the clinic, Ellie is an avid equestrian, competing nationally in dressage with her horse Calypso. She can also be found exploring the Seacoast food scene with her husband Mark or out on a hike with their three dogs - Lucy, Shandy, and Floraidh.

Stephanie Beckmeyer, LVT, VTS (Dentistry)

Stephanie has been with Eliot Veterinary Hospital since its inception in 2013. She has nearly 20 years of extensive experience in veterinary medicine.  She graduated in 2007 from the University of New Hampshire with a BS in Zoology and became a licensed Veterinary Nurse in 2011.  Stephanie knew from a young age she wanted to work with animals in some capacity, but fell in love with the veterinary field while attending college.

During her time at EVH, she became especially interested in dentistry. In 2024, after years of labs, reports, and continued education, Stephanie passed her Board Exam to obtain her Veterinary Technician Specialist of Dentistry. This opens up a world of possibilities for the dental care and expertise provided to our patients!

When she is not at work, you can find her busy at home with her daughter, Lydia.  She is an ocean lover and prefers to be out on the boat with her husband, Brad.  They share their home with two fur babies, Brandi and Mango.

Maddie Hartnett, LVT

Maddie was welcomed to our team after completing an internship with us in the Spring of 2017. 
She graduated from the University of New Hampshire Thompson School of Applied Sciences in May 2017 with degrees in Veterinary Technology and Small Animal Care. She soon after passed her National Veterinary Technician Exam and is a Licensed Veterinary Technician.  

Maddie has loved animals ever since she was a child and always knew she would one day be a part of the veterinary profession. She is very dedicated to her career and could not see herself doing anything different. Maddie shows compassion and care for the patients and their owners. She is always sure to bring a fun and positive attitude to our team. 

She currently lives in Durham, New Hampshire with her boyfriend and the smushiest pibble Callie Moo. When she is not at work, she enjoys going to the beach, trying new restaurants and spending time with friends, family and her boyfriend Nick.  

​Jess White, LVT

Jess joined the team after completing an internship with us in the Spring of 2021. She graduated from Great Bay Community College’s Vet Tech program and became licensed as a veterinary technician.
​
When not snuggling with every cat that comes through the door, Jess enjoys participating in surgical procedures and dentistry, as well as building rapport with our clients and patients.
In her free time, she can be found reading a good book, hiking with friends, and spending time with her family. She shares her life with her wonderful cat Ciabatta (Chibi Cheeks!) and naughty cat Freddy Baguette.

Alex Myers, LVT

Alex grew up in southern Maine before moving to New Hampshire. He is currently attending the University of New Hampshire, where he just finished up his Associates in Veterinary Technology and is now pursuing a Bachelors in Animal Sciences. 

He joined EVH in November 2024 and has been in the field since 2022 within various roles as his education grew. His love for the industry has grown more every day, and he has become particularly fond of anything surgery!  Patients and clients alike love Alex's calm and cool demeanor and presence.

At home he shares his life with his trouble maker cat, Nymeria, who runs the show. In his free time he enjoys hammocking with friends, attending campus hockey games, and relaxing with his family.

Aliyah Neale, LVT

Aliyah grew up in western Massachusetts where she attended UMass Amherst Mount Ida, obtaining her Bachelors degree in Veterinary Technology. She joined the EVH team upon graduating in May 2025 and has been in the field since 2022 from general practice and emergency, to wildlife and exotics. Shortly after join EVH she passed her Veterinary Technician National Exam, and is now killing it at her role as LVT.

In her free time she enjoys hanging out with her newly adopted cat Cashew, as well as her snakes, lizards, and geckos.

Linnea Eskind, Veterinary Technician Student

Linnea grew up in Eliot having a passion for all animals, especially horses. She is currently attending her second year in the Veterinary Technology program at York County Community College in pursuit of becoming a licensed veterinary technician.

​When she is not studying she enjoys hiking and going to the beach with her dog Callie, trying new restaurants, and spending time at the barn. She is thrilled to channel her passion for animals into a career in veterinary medicine!

Erica Bergendahl, Veterinary Student

​Erica grew up in Berwick, Maine before attending the University of Vermont where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Animal Science. She is now a fourth year veterinary student at Long Island University.

​In her limited free time she enjoys reading, spending time at the beach, and going to concerts.

Marissa Ware, Technician Assistant, CPDT-KA

Marissa joined EVH first as an intern in mid-2024 and then as a full-time Technician Assistant in April 2025. She recently completed York County Community College's Animal Care and Management Associates degree and hopes to continue her education in animal behavior. In 2026, Marissa earned her certification as a Certified Professional Dog Trainer.

Marissa has loved animals her entire life and is especially interested in dog behavior and training. Outside of EVH, you can find Marissa hanging out with her pups Ludo and Orb, as well as competing in dog events with her family's Beaucerons. 

Jenna Loubier, Client Service Representative

Jenna is the client care specialist of Eliot Veterinary Hospital. Before joining EVH, Jenna worked in many customer service positions where she has been able to assist people in need. As a young girl, she knew that the care of animals was her passion in life. Her first family dog, Jedda, became her very best furry friend. After graduating from Dover High School, she has decided that she wants to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.

Outside of work she shares her life with Georgie, a cat who has had several health complications which caused a serious spark in her drive to help animals in need, as well as her daughter Nora. 

Hannah Sexton, Client Service Representative

Growing up in North Berwick, alongside 5 siblings, cats, dogs, horses, and chickens, Hannah has always had a passion for people and animals. After working in customer service for almost 10 years Hannah decided to follow her childhood passion and began pursuing a career in the medical field.

In 2023 Hannah graduated from York County Community College with an associates degree in Health Sciences. Since joining the EVH staff as a CSR, she has gotten to combine her love for helping people and animals, while caring for our patients and their families. Hannah has fallen in love with veterinary medicine at EVH and looks forward to furthering her education in the field!

In her free time Hannah enjoys going for hikes with her husband and their dog, Nala. She also enjoys relaxing at home with their three cats, Bean, Eevee, and Klaus.

Lord Melvin Derpius

        Melvin joined our team in 2022 and has been making us all laugh ever since.
Whether it be his sassy side eye or the way he scarfs his salad,
he sure is going to entertain whoever he encounters.

Our staff have completed additional training and are RECOVER certified to provided advanced life saving support. 
We are a Low Stress Handling Silver Certified Facility
All licensed staff attend Continuing Education as per licensure requirements; we strive to further our education and grow as a team.
