Dr. Shannon Emmons, DVM and OwnerWhile growing up in South Berwick, Maine Dr. Emmons knew at a young age that she wanted to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. As a Marshwood student she worked as a veterinary assistant for Dr. Lee at South Berwick Veterinary Hospital.
Following graduation from high school she went on to attend the University of Vermont and received her Bachelor's in Animal Science. Dr. Emmons then continued her academic pursuits at Atlantic Veterinary College graduating in May of 2017 with a Doctorate of Veterinary medicine. Dr. Emmons bought the practice from Dr. Lee in June of 2019 and has been very excited working with the community as a small business owner. As of February 2023, Dr. Emmons is working with Dr. Calder of Calder Veterinary Behavior Services to pursue a residency in veterinary behavior. She currently lives in Lebanon with her husband, dogs, cats, goats, and horses. While not at work she enjoys hiking with her dogs, horseback riding, skiing, gardening, knitting, and reading. Dr. Kathy Bouras, DVMDr. Kathy Bouras grew up in Northern Virginia, where she loved riding and showing horses as well as caring for various animals. She graduated from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999 and has been practicing in the Seacoast since.
When not working, she enjoys hiking, spending time at the beach, and traveling. She is a long time resident of South Berwick with her partner Jonathan and her son, and shares her home with two rescue dogs, Liam and Birdie. Dr. Lucy Devlin, DVMDr. Lucy Devlin grew up in Massachusetts before attending Colby College where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology. She then attended Tufts where she earned a doctorate in veterinary medicine in 2022.
She enjoys spending her free time with her very sweet dog and her absolutely purr-fect cats! She also loves reading, traveling, and spending time at the beach. Ellie Miles, Practice ManagerEllie is a native Mainer having grown up in nearby Kennebunk. She attended Babson College where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. After working in Operations for Amazon, Ellie sought out a career that would combine her business education and passion - animals!
She entered the industry as the Manager of Equine/Farm Animal Programs for the Massachusetts SPCA before finding her way to veterinary medicine in 2020. In her Practice Manager role, Ellie enjoys empowering her team and getting to know clients in order to reach the best outcomes for patients. When not in the clinic, Ellie is an avid equestrian, competing nationally in dressage with her horse Calypso. She can also be found exploring the Seacoast food scene with her husband Mark or out on a hike with their three dogs - Lucy, Shandy, and Floraidh. Stephanie Beckmeyer, LVT, VTS (Dentistry)Stephanie has been with Eliot Veterinary Hospital since its inception in 2013. She has nearly 20 years of extensive experience in veterinary medicine. She graduated in 2007 from the University of New Hampshire with a BS in Zoology and became a licensed Veterinary Nurse in 2011. Stephanie knew from a young age she wanted to work with animals in some capacity, but fell in love with the veterinary field while attending college.
During her time at EVH, she became especially interested in dentistry. In 2024, after years of labs, reports, and continued education, Stephanie passed her Board Exam to obtain her Veterinary Technician Specialist of Dentistry. This opens up a world of possibilities for the dental care and expertise provided to our patients! When she is not at work, you can find her busy at home with her daughter, Lydia. She is an ocean lover and prefers to be out on the boat with her husband, Brad. They share their home with 3 fur babies, Brandi, Logan and Mango. Maddie Hartnett, LVT
Maddie was welcomed to our team after completing an internship with us in the Spring of 2017.
She graduated from the University of New Hampshire Thompson School of Applied Sciences in May 2017 with degrees in Veterinary Technology and Small Animal Care. She soon after passed her National Veterinary Technician Exam and is a Licensed Veterinary Nurse. Maddie has loved animals ever since she was a child and always knew she would one day be a part of the veterinary profession. She is very dedicated to her career and could not see herself doing anything different. Maddie shows compassion and care for the patients and their owners. She is always sure to bring a fun and positive attitude to our team. She currently lives in Durham, New Hampshire with her boyfriend and the smushiest Pibble Callie Moo. When she is not at work, she enjoys going to the beach, trying new restaurants and spending time with friends, family and her boyfriend Nick. Jess White, LVT
Jess joined the team after completing an internship with us in the Spring of 2021. She graduated from Great Bay Community College’s Vet Tech program and became licensed as a veterinary technician.
When not snuggling with every cat that comes through the door, Jess enjoys participating in surgical procedures and dentistry, as well as building rapport with our clients and patients. In her free time, she can be found reading a good book, hiking with friends, and spending time with her family. She currently resides in Milton, NH with her wonderful cat Ciabatta (Chibi cheeks!) and naughty cat Freddy Baguette. Kristen Machlin, LVTKristen graduated from Great Bay Community College in 2023 with a degree in Veterinary Technology and became licensed as a veterinary technician shortly after.
She came into the veterinary field after leaving a career that was not her passion, realizing that she wanted to turn her love for animals into a full-time endeavor. So she did just that, and she hasn’t looked back. She has a passion for animal behavior and for fostering positive relationships between veterinary professionals, pets and their owners. She considers herself a lifelong learner and is always striving to be the best technician that she can be, learn new skills, and help provide excellent care. Kristen is very much what you’d call a cat lady. She has three of her own at home: Meeko, Shadow, and Domino. In her spare time, Kristen enjoys writing, singing, science fiction, and tennis. She currently lives in Dover, NH with her husband Sam and their three fur babies. She plans to obtain a Veterinary Technician Specialty in Behavior or Feline General Practice in the future. Linnea Eskind, Veterinary Technician StudentLinnea grew up in Eliot, Maine having a passion for all animals, especially horses. She is currently attending her second year in the Veterinary Technology program at York County Community College in pursuit of becoming a licensed veterinary technician.
When she is not studying she enjoys hiking and going to the beach with her dog Callie, trying new restaurants, and spending time at the barn. She is thrilled to channel her passion for animals into a career in veterinary medicine! Erica Bergendahl, Veterinary StudentErica grew up in Berwick, Maine before attending the University of Vermont where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Animal Science. She is now a second year veterinary student at Long Island University.
In her limited free time she enjoys reading, spending time at the beach, and going to concerts. Jenna Loubier, Client Service RepresentativeJenna is the client care specialist of Eliot Veterinary Hospital. Before joining EVH, Jenna worked in many customer service positions where she has been able to assist people in need. As a young girl, she knew that the care of animals was her passion in life. Her first family dog, Jedda, became her very best furry friend.
Not too long ago she got a kitten, Georgie, who has had several health complications which caused a serious spark in her drive to help animals in need. After graduating from Dover High School, she has decided that she wants to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Jenna can’t wait to help you and your furry loved ones. Diana Tobey, Client Service RepresentativeDiana joined the team in October 2023. A South Berwick native and Marshwood grad, Diana has worked in customer service for over 35 years in the area, largely in human healthcare. In 2020, she left human healthcare behind and has not looked back!
Diana lives in South Berwick with her partner Dan, and together they have two dogs, a cat, 13 chickens and 3 ducks. Diana loves her three kids Shawn, Molly, and Connor, and her bonus daughter Madison and husband Scott. She is the proud grandma to Ryleigh and Chase, and her bonus grandson, Severin. In her free time, Diana enjoys spending time with her family, being upta camp, heading to the beach and traveling. Hannah Sexton, Client Service RepresentativeGrowing up in North Berwick, alongside 5 siblings, cats, dogs, horses, and chickens, Hannah has always had a passion for people and animals. After working in customer service for almost 10 years Hannah decided to follow her childhood passion and began pursuing a career in the medical field.
In 2023 Hannah graduated from York County Community College with an associates degree in Health Sciences. Since joining the EVH staff as a CSR, she has gotten to combine her love for helping people and animals, while caring for our patients and their families. Hannah has fallen in love with veterinary medicine at EVH and looks forward to furthering her education in the field! In her free time Hannah enjoys going for hikes with her husband and their dog, Nala. She also enjoys relaxing at home with their two cats, Bean and Eevee. |
