Dr. Christopher Lee, DVM
Dr.Lee is the founder and owner of the Eliot Veterinary Hospital. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of New
Hampshire in 1981 where he earned his bachelor of science degree in Animal Science and Pre-Veterinary Medicine.
After pursuing a master of science degree at the University of New Hampshire, Dr. Lee received his Doctor
of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Minnesota in 1987 graduating Magna Cum Laude. He also
completed an internship in emergency medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Following graduation from
the University of Minnesota, Dr. Lee owned and operated the South Berwick Veterinary Hospital for 20 years
where he practiced small animal medicine and surgery with special interests in dermatology, ophthalmology,
soft tissue surgery and orthopedics.
Outside of the hospital Dr. Lee lives in South Berwick, Maine with his wife of 34 years. He enjoys
cooking, gardening, spending time with his family, hiking, and physical training. He is especially enamored
with his grandchildren and his dog, Boston. Dr. Lee is also an avid fan of all New England sports and he
loves spending time at the lake, water sports, the beach, and he occasionally gets out on the golf course.
Dr. Lee is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Maine Veterinary Medical Association
and the Veterinary Information Network.
Dr. Shannon Emmons, DVM
Eliot Veterinary Hospital is both proud and excited to announce the addition of Dr. Shannon Emmons to
the staff as associate veterinarian!
While growing up in South Berwick, Maine Dr. Emmons knew at a young age that she wanted to pursue a
career in veterinary medicine. As a Marshwood student she worked as a veterinary assistant for Dr. Lee
at South Berwick Veterinary Hospital. Following graduation from high school she went on to attend the
University of Vermont and graduated in 2013 with a Bachelors Degree in Animal Science/Pre-Veterinary
concentration. Dr. Emmons then continued her academic pursuits at Atlantic Veterinary College
graduating in May of 2017 with a Doctorate of Veterinary medicine. Her primary areas of interest while
in veterinary school were nutrition, exotic animal medicine, animal behavior, dentistry and veterinary
She currently lives in South Berwick with her husband, dogs, cat, guinea pigs and a horse and
while not at work she enjoys horseback riding, hiking, skiing, gardening, knitting and reading.
Dr. Emmons is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Maine Veterinary Medical
Association and the Veterinary Information Network.
Eliot Veterinary Hospital is extremely fortunate to have Mariellen as our Hospital Manager. Mariellen graduated Magna Cum
Laude from Lehigh University with a degree in Business and Economics. Following a 20-year career as the
assistant director of the Ocean Process Analysis Laboratory at the University of New Hampshire, Mariellen
was the practice manager at the South Berwick Veterinary Hospital for 5 years. She brings a wealth of knowledge
and experience to Eliot Veterinary Hospital and is always available to answer questions and assist our
clients and patients in any way that she can.
When not at the hospital, Mariellen lives in South Berwick with her husband and dog. She enjoys gardening,
reading, skiing, the lake and beach, all New England sports and enjoys spending time with her two grandchildren.
Stephanie Tingley, LVT
Stephanie compliments the staff of Eliot Veterinary Hospital with her seven years of experience in the field as a veterinary
technician. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology. She
later utilized her education and love for animals to achieve her certification in Veterinary Technology.
Stephanie has experience in a referral practice setting as well as general practice.
You will be able to tell by the smile on her face that she enjoys meeting clients and patients and
making sure that all of their needs are met. One of Stephanie's most important roles is taking charge of
our Digital Radiology Department. She ensures that all of our x-ray imaging is state-of-the-art. Stephanie
shares her home with her husband Erik, their newborn daughter Lydia and their two felines, Mango and Logan.
Her hobbies include baking, hiking, gardening, the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
Alicia Deneault joined the staff of Eliot Veterinary Hospital in January of 2015. She's originally from New Hampton, New
Hampshire where she realized at a young age that her love for animals would eventually steer her in the
direction of a career in veterinary medicine. Ali obtained her associates degree in Veterinary Technology
and Applied Animal Science from the Thompson School at the University of New Hampshire in 2014 where she
graduated at the top of her class. She will be sitting for the veterinary technician's licensing examination
in July of 2015. Eliot Veterinary Hospital is fortunate to have Ali who approaches her responsibilities
with enthusiasm, professionalism and compassion.
Ali lives with her newly adopted cat, Luna and when she is not at work she enjoys cooking, gardening,
reading, hitting the beach and spending time with her family and boyfriend, Matt.
Maddie completed an internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at Eliot
Veterinary Hospital in the Spring of 2017. She graduated from the University of New
Hampshire Thompson School of Applied Sciences in May of 2017 with a degree in
Veterinary Technology and joined our staff as a full-time Veterinary Assistant. She is
currently studying for the National Board Examination for Certification as a Veterinary
Nurse in November, 2017. Maddie is dedicated to her profession, shows compassion and
care for the patients and owners that she cares for and brings a fun and friendly
She currently lives in Rye, New Hampshire with her two dogs, tortoise and
hamster and, when she is not at work, enjoys spending time on the beach, skiing and
hiking. We are very fortunate to have Maddie as part of our staff.
